"McDonald Creature"

"Ronald McDonald as a creature" was the topic for this Chiustream challenge. This was the first one I entered, and it's arguably my best entry. I ought to keep that in mind in the future, as the technique was very simple - which is probably why it was so effective.

"Venosaurus Rex" AKA "Savage Land Venom"

"Your favorite Superhero as an animal" was the theme for this Chiustream Challenge. The top image is what I submitted after the hour deadline was up, then you can see how I progressively reworked it.
Different people seem to prefer it at different stages, which one is your favorite?

Bathouse Creature

"Creature that could be in the bath house in the movie Spirited Away"

Redesigning Characters from Ice Age, these were from the two Chiustreams prior to Peter Deseve's guest appearance. As you can see Scrat finally "went nuts", and sid was punished for his "sloth" ala' Se7en.

Scary Plant

"Scary Plant" was the theme for this after-chiustream challenge. I went back and adjusted the curves on the larger version. You can see, from the smaller version, where I was at when the time ran up. It was an hour challenge.

Rexy

"Reptile" was the theme... I liked where this was going, even if it doesn't look complete... I would have fixed it up and presented a better version, but I lost my wacom stylus shortly after and haven't yet found it or bought a new one. all in good time, my friends.

My first Chiustream ever - I drew along, but didn't enter - no scanner. I made sure to enter every one I attended after this though, which really got me into digital sketching and definitely helped me bump up my speed-painting ability.

Tall & Grumpy

The smaller image is what I ended up with after the hour was up, and I can see why it didn't receive any votes - too muddy, needed contrast. So a simple curves adjustment later I arrived at what you see in the larger image.

Godzilla Ballet

"Something big, yet graceful" was the topic chosen by Peter Deseve for that night's challenge. The below image is the result after an hour. The image to the left is after about 15 minutes or so of tweaking. I'm still not sure which is better. I think the original is more fun in a way, while the later one is perhaps, more convincing? Either way, this was a different direction for me, stylistically, which is one thing I love about these one-hour chiustream challenges - room for experimentation. The time limit sort of forces me to try new things to get the image looking presentable at the end of the time limit. My brush strokes could have been more graceful, and had they been, Peter might have taken notice of my work... hindsite is always 20/20 though. I'm just glad to have participated.

Cute Fuzzy Animal

"Cute, Fuzzy Animal" was the assignment. This was an hour sketch (as they all are, unless noted otherwise). It came out really quickly, as minimal detail usually lends itself to cuteness. Maybe I should do cute more often?

Ugly Duckling from Space

This was another post-chiustream "fun challenge", with the assignment of "Ugly Duckling from Space".

I don't remember if this was an hour or a half-hour challenge. I actually joined blogger shortly after creating this, which is why it also has it's own blog.... I'm still figuring out how this site works, I'd love to be able to rearrange and edit older posts, but as of now I'm not even sure that's possible - though you'd think it must be, right?

Bug Bunny

"combine a rabbit and an insect" was the assignment... I showed up late, this wasn't one of my better pieces, still it makes me giggle and I like how my "Gary Larson influence" shows through.

Fat & Scary

Not one of my better entries, but I kinda like where this one is going. Note the "balloon knot" belly-button.

Evil Pikachu

"Evil Pikachu" below is the image after the hour deadline, to the left is the final image, after I went back and punched it up to look more like Pikachu, (using reference this time). This was one of the first Chiustream challenges in which I participated.

30 minute sketch challenge from a challenge that a few of us chiu-streamers decided to give ourselves after chiustream was over.

The assignment: "Chuck Norris as a Pokemon" - this ended up looking more like Bruce Lee, but it wasn't a serious contest so I just let my imagination take me where it wanted to.
